Reopening a Lesson Attempt for a Student

As an instructor, you can grant students access to a previously graded attempt in the SI Lab Portal. This allows students to reopen a lesson they’ve already submitted, with all their prior work preserved — so they can continue right where they left off.

You can reopen lessons for a single student or multiple students, depending on your needs.

When a student requests another attempt for a lesson, they can submit this request directly from their account. Once submitted, you’ll receive an email notification that includes:

  • The class name
  • The activity title
  • The student’s name and email
  • The type of authorization requested
  • The date of the request

To approve the student’s request, simply navigate to the class page and follow the steps outlined below.

1. From the Class Homepage, select "Proctor Tools."

2. Select the "Search" button.

3. Select the lesson or assignment

4. Select re-open if already graded

5. Under "Set Permissions," select the student(s) who will be reattempting the lesson.

6. Select "Authorize" to reopen the lesson for the student.
