How to Bulk Grade an Assignment

Updated on

Reminder that all Exploration labs are autograded! Only the Experimentation & Evaluation Labs need to be manually graded.

1. Enter your Gradebook and filter to your desired Lab Portion/Assignment.

We recommend selecting the lab you would like to grade, selecting "Manual Grading Filter," and then clicking Search.

2. Click the link in the orange banner or the purple checkbox next to the lab title to open the manual grading window.

If this button (Manually Grade this Activity) is grayed out please make sure that the "Manual Grading Filter" button is selected.

3. Select a question number in an orange box to begin manually grading the item.

A green checked box will indicate what has already been graded and the orange unchecked box will show what has not been graded. The last question will always be a short answer question that needs to be graded by the instructor.

The Marking Guide on the right side of the student's answer is the sample answer/answer guide.

Use the ">" arrow on the right hand side of the question numbers to see the rest of the questions that need to be graded in an assignment.

4. Use the check box on your roster to select all students.

You can uncheck any student that should not receive the score you are about to apply in bulk. Then, apply their scores individually.

5. Enter the point value (1, 0.5, 0.25, etc.) in the Bulk Grade Field. Click the disk icon and then "Confirm" to apply the grade.

6. Grades will update and the question will be marked as graded.
