How to Give a Student Another Attempt

Updated on

Lessons in the SI Lab Portal can be reopened for single or multiple students to reattempt. When a student requests to have a another attempt for a lesson, they can submit the request directly from their account. Once the request is submitted, you’ll receive an email notification containing the class name, activity title, student’s name and email, the type of authorization requested, and the date of the request.

To approve the student’s request, simply navigate to the class page and follow the steps outlined below.

Note that Start/Re-Enter the lesson for the student counts as a second attempt of the lesson, NOT a continuation of the first attempt of the lesson. For this reason, the student will need to re-answer all questions - their prior answers will not load as a part of the reattempt.

1. From the Class Homepage, select "Proctor Tools."

2. Select the "Search" button.

3. Under "Set Permissions," select the student(s) who will be reattempting the lesson.

4. Under "Grant Permissions," ensure that "Start/Re-Enter" is selected.

If desired, you can also set an end date for the reattempt, or a maximum time allowed on the reattempt.

5. Select "Authorize" to reopen the lesson for the student.
