How to Hide a Lesson in SI Portal

You can choose to hide or show lessons on the Class Homepage, so students only see what they need. There are two main ways to do this: using the Content Repository or the Activity Editors.

Option 1: Use the Content Repository

This is the quickest way to hide or show lessons in your class.

Steps:

1. From the Class Homepage, click Content Repository (third option in the instructor main navigation menu).

1. In the Current Class pane, click Assignments & Lessons.

1. Find the lesson and navigate to the specific activity that you want you want to hide or show.

1. Click Hide to remove it from the students’ Class Homepage.

• The lesson will now show the hidden icon and will no longer appear to students.

1. Click Show to make it visible again.
   • The lesson will now show the visible icon and appear to students.

Notes:

• If the Limit Visibility by Dates setting (in the Lesson Editor) is enabled, it will override the Hide and Show buttons.
• The Hide and Show buttons work the same as the Visible (Master) checkbox in the activity’s properties.
• Tip: You can apply Hide or Show to all listed lessons in a pane at once.

Option 2: Use the Activity Editor

Use this method if you want to schedule when lessons become visible.

Steps:

1. Open the lesson in the Activity Editors.
2. In the Scheduling & Visibility section, check or uncheck the Visible (Master) box to control if students can see it on their Class Homepage and calendars.

1. To control visibility by dates, go to the General Properties section (inside the Policy Set pane) and enable Limit Visibility by Dates.

1. Set the Start Date and End Date in the Scheduling & Visibility section. Students will only see the lesson between these dates.
