Cloning lessons allows you to reuse existing lessons while keeping your version separate from the original. This ensures edits you make do not automatically propagate from the source lesson.
Ways to Clone Lessons
- Individually – Use the Clone into My Class function to copy a single lesson.
- In Bulk – Use the Clone function on the bulk action bar to copy multiple lessons at once.
1. Open a unit folder, and select "Clone into my class".
- Child classes inherit lessons from parent classes, also marked with the Green Shared Content icon.
- You can Clone inherited lessons to your child class to edit them independently. Changes in the parent lesson will not affect your cloned copy.
- If you want all edits you make to be inherited by child classes, you can continue to edit in the course you made the clone originally.
- Cloned lessons appear in your Content Repository with the up and down arrows and a folder icon, without the green Shared Content icon.
- Be sure to edit title names to the unit and lessons to differentiate from original lesson and cloned lesson.
- The original lesson (shared or inherited) remains in its original unit.
Additional Tips
- Use Course Modules to further separate cloned content from shared or inherited lessons.
- Check out Control Activity Visibility to manage whether the original parent lesson is visible to students on the Class Homepage.
