Troubleshooting Grade Sync Issues Between SI Portal and Your LMS
If you’re noticing that grades aren’t syncing from SI Portal to your LMS, don’t worry — this is often easy to resolve. Here are some common troubleshooting tips to help you get things back on track:
1. Ensure All Work is Fully Graded
One of the most common reasons grades don’t sync is that not all work has been graded — even partially graded assignments can prevent a successful sync.
Here’s what to check:
- Manually graded questions: Confirm that you've graded all manually graded questions for each student.
- Extend the grading view: Make sure to extend the number of visible rows in the grading view to more than 20 to see all students and all questions.
- Save each grade: After grading, click the floppy disk icon to save. This applies even if a student earns a zero — you still need to enter "0" and save it.
- Bulk grading: If you're using the bulk grading tool, make sure to click “Update Grades” first, and then click “Save”. Both steps are required to finalize the grades.
2. Check Your Submit Button Settings
If the "Submit" button is not enabled, students’ work will not sync to your LMS.
You have two options:
- Force grade: You’ll need to manually force grade all student work if submissions haven’t been formally submitted. You can either set a force grade date in the lesson policies or manually force grade by clicking on the lesson in the content repository and then selecting force grade.
- Enable the Submit button: You can turn on the Submit button in your Policy Sets, which allows students to submit their work and ensures it’s ready to be graded and synced.
